I've ordered sweats from JCPenney (St. John's Bay brand or something like that) and was disappointed. They were quite large on me and not long enough. When ordering, be careful to check the size chart for each brand. I found that most were designed for 5'7"-5'10" which is still too short for me. Most sizes start at 8 and go up. They do offer 'ultra tall' on their site but until they offer some smaller sizes, I won't be trying it. The extra tall mens' does work for my husband though, he's 6'10." My experience with their service has not been great. Only once out of 5 orders did my order arrive as promised.

I bought a fabulous winter coat online. I get lots of compliments and it is something like 56" from shoulder to hem so it falls mid-shin. The service was great and it arrived quickly. 2 buttons have fallen off after wearing it only 4 times but this is not a major issue and there were plenty of extra buttons included. I'm opting for 4 stars because LTS's smallest size is still big on me.

J.Crew always has suits and pants in long/tall sizes. If you catch them at the right time you can find blouses, sweaters, lounge wear, dresses, and long torso swimsuits, available only online. This is the only place I can buy something and wear it right off the rack. Tall sizes come as small as 2 / XS. I've worn a floor length dress that actually hits the floor even with 1.5" heels. I think I have every long sleeve button up shirt they've offered in the past 5 years because of the length of the body and sleeves without billowing around the waist. The quality and service are great and they offer up to size 11 shoes. I'd give J.Crew 4.5 stars if that were an option just because of the inconsistency in their offerings in tall sizes. Some of the regular sizes there are longer in the torso and sleeves too you'd just have to find if any cut works for you. I'm pretty sure I've returned items to the local store.

A lot like Gap (same parent company) they have expanded the line from inseams to tops and dresses too. Some of their pieces come in a 2 or a 4 tall and the occasional XS but pluck up those sizes quickly. For me the sleeves are ample, the torsos are lengthy. The quality and service are good. I'd say the sizes run a little large but the fit is comparable to the that of the regular-length sizes, just longer. I haven't tried a dress yet.

Gap now offers more tall options like tees, blouses, dresses etc. for tall women. I guess they've finally realized we have long arms, torsos, etc. as well as long legs. Anyway, this collection is only available online but you may return to your local gap store. I'm 6'0; 135. I ordered several tees (the same style only in different colors), and 2 sweaters of different styles. The styles, service, and quality are comparable with their regular line; that is to say it's decent quality, not great. Of the 3 tees, one was just right in length, one was more like a dress, and the other was just as short as a regular-sized tee. The sweaters were adequately long and fell well below the top of 'low rise' pants. Their sizing is S, M, L or the numeric equivalents. I'd love to see some smaller sizes (these were all pretty large on me) but compared to some tall shops that don't go below an 8 it's a step in the right direction.
